There was a discussion on a listserv where a writer wanted to know the statistical chances of getting published, saying it must be a “scary” number. Another writer replied that it isn’t like a lottery and instead that the chances of getting published are directly connected to how well your story is written. Rick Walton said further:
“Here is a not so scary writing fact–true, only a very few will get published. But ALMOST ALL of the writers I knew 10-15 years ago who stuck at it are now published. Truth is if you do the work and are patient, you will probably get published. Now, is it worth the sacrifice? That is something you have to decide.”
That is the bigger question for sure.
