I read a post yesterday on QueryTracker and it keeps coming back to mind.  It talked about authors who must have certain conditions in order to write.  One example was of a writer who said she needed complete silence.  Another writer tried to write in a library but it was so quiet, she had to leave.

I like it quiet with few distractions, but I don’t have to have complete silence.  However, with more kids/grands living in our house, that is no longer practical.

When the noise level rises, I remember a friend who writes at her kitchen table with her six youngsters doing their chores, homework, playing or whatever around her.

I hope it is a learnable skill.
