Writing is Work, but…

Over the years, I’ve discovered that writing is a lot of hard work. And writing something that is good enough to get published is even harder. If it wasn’t, everyone would be successful, including those people who think that writing a picture book must be easy–after all it’s only 250+/- words, anyone should be able to write three in any given afternoon. Right? Wrong!

So when I read this quote by David Farland today, it was a good reminder:

“Remember that writing is supposed to be fun. Forget about trying to win awards. Forget about winning contests. Forget about trying to become an international bestseller for a bit—and get back to having fun!”

Good advice. And now, back to work…and fun!
