One of my sons-in-law is a (very good!) marriage and family therapist. He posted a quote from David Augsburger on his blog:
“Being heard is so close to being loved that for the average person, they are almost indistinguishable.”
I’ve been thinking about that concept as it relates to writing.
Have you noticed when you mention to someone, anyone, that you are a writer, they say they have always wanted to write a book or they have started writing a book or they have the best story idea ever?
But, writing a book is harder than most people think. Oh, starting a book isn’t that difficult, it is finishing one that is the trick. I’ve often heard it said by writers that they write because they have to. I know I’ve felt that way. Perhaps it is because we have that need to be heard and by extension to feel loved.
Would you agree?
